Dan Rather and the 'boyza' have apparently been getting away with quite a lot over at CBS, and 60 Minutes, over the years. This time, yet again, they got caught. They're sticking with their story. And while there's admittedly some confusion in the charges, as there always is to start, if you take certain key points then the sum of it doesn't look good for the guys. This may have begun from a 60 Minutes II story last Wednesday (I never watch 60 Minutes, or 60 Minutes II, but I understand this is the source of it all). Corroborating documents showed up on their website probably on the afternoon of the broadcast, the 8th. So, on the 8th, within hours, people began to notice things. Dan and crew somehow came across four memos, or even six, they won't say how (at least yet), which purported to say that George Bush had ducked physicals in the early seventies, against orders even, and because of that disobedience was drummed out of flight status in the Air National Guard, in Texas. Good for Kerry. Bad for Bush. LET'S RUN WITH IT! they must have said. The suspension wasn't because more experienced pilots were rotating back from Vietnam, and pushing Bush out, as efforts were being quickly, too quickly, handed over to the Vietnamese. It was because he disobeyed an order, you see. Bad Bush. BOOOSH is the real criminal - etc, etc.
